How to Install a Double-Faced Tape Mounted Sign

Dustin Ellison |

Step by Step Instructions

1. Clean the Mounting Surface

Thoroughly clean the wall to remove any debris or residue. Otherwise the sign’s adhesive may not form a strong bond.

2. Tape Up the Guide

Tape the stencil guide to the wall with a single piece of masking tape.

3. Level the Stencil Guide

Adjust the template so it's level. Be sure to level the guide to the base of the design not the bottom of the template.

4. Secure Stencil Guide with More Tape

Place additional pieces of masking or painter's tape to secure the guide in place.

5. Remove Backer From Sign Elements

Peel the protective paper off the back of the sign letters and elements.

6. Press Sign Elements into Place

Press each of the sign letters and elements into their slots within the stencil guide. Firmly press and hold each element in position for at least 30 seconds to ensure it forms a strong bond.

7. Remove the Rigid Stencil Guide

Remove the rigid stencil guide from the wall. Be careful not to pull down any sign elements with it.

8. Remove Protective Facing

Peel the protective film off the face of the sign elements.

9. Wipe Off Letters

Wipe off any smudges, dust, or debris from your sign using a soft cloth, rag, or sponge and warm, soapy water. We recommend using gentle, liquid dish soap. Carefully wipe in the same direction as the grain. Dry with a soft rag or cloth.

Warning: Never wash with common harsh detergents or chemicals such as Comet, Ajax, Soft Scrub, or similar abrasive solutions as they will scratch finishes.
